a lighting and grip company
Heywhatsyourface.com was started in 2008 when Ryan Meyer, a gaffer, realized the struggles that his clients were having in communicating and working with larger rental house companies. He decided to open a full service lighting and grip company.
At first, Ryan stored his gear in his townhouse and brought it along in his car. After some success he managed to get a stationwagon to transport the equipment. Next came the purchase of a 3-ton truck. Soon he had enough gear to fill a storage unit. Then 2 storage units. He was on his way to getting heywhatsyourface off the ground and began competing in the film industry of Los Angeles.
In the beginning of 2011 Ryan opened a fully fuctional, 4,000 SF warehouse in North Hollywood. Since opening, Ryan has not only rented lighting and gear, but also opened the door to clients to film in the spacious establishment.
Bob Niekamp joined the heywhatsyourface.com team in summer 2010. Having graduated from Michigan State University with a marketing emphasis, Bob brings over 10 years of business management experience to the company. He has worked with various companies such as SBC Communications, the Green Bay Packers, and Prudential Securities. Together, Ryan and Bob plan on world domination.
